This commercial item description covers recliner chairs intended for use in living quarters and lounge areas.

Types.
I- Rocker recliner, closed arms.
II- Wall recliner, closed arms.
Styles.
A- Contemporary.
B- Traditional.
Mechanisms. Rocker recliner, three-way, extendable foot-rest, seat and back recline independently. Three position, rocking, intermediate TV, and fully reclined. Wall recliner, three-way, extendable foot-rest, seat and back recline independently away from wall. Three positions, sitting, intermediate TV, and fully reclined.
Upholstery. Foot-rests, seats, and arms, shall be upholstered.
Fabric. Artificial leather (expanded) shall conform to Federal Specification CCC-A-680, class 2, with treatments (a)(1) regular fire resistance. Cloth fabric shall conform to the Woven Upholstery Fabric Standard prepared by the Joint Industry Fabric Standards Committee. The fabric shall be flat woven , category 1 heavy duty (minimum 15,000 cycles abrasion), normal, in-use, household applications.
Identification label. The identification label shall have the contractor’s name or trademark, contract or order number, and the month and year of manufacture legibly marked in a permanent dark ink. The label shall be affixed to the bottom of the chair and shall not be removable by hand without defacement.
Workmanship. The upholstering tailoring frame construction and mechanism shall be of the quality to produce finished chairs acceptable in appearance, function, and serviceability and to prevent potential hazard to personnel or their clothing.
Performance. Each chair shall comply with the following requirements. Failure to meet these requirements shall be cause for rejection.
(1) The chair shall be restrained from movement and 200 pounds of weight shall be distributed in the chair simulating the weight of a man reclining on the chair. The chair shall be operated from a rocking or sitting position to a reclining position for 10,000 cycles, rate 10-15 cycles per minute. Any mechanical failure, or failure of the mechanism to maintain the rocking of sitting, intermediate TV, or reclining positions after the test shall be cause for rejection.
(2) The chair shall be restrained from movement and a 125 pound load shall be dropped 2 inches into the seat for 10,000 cycles, rate 15-20 cycles per minute. Any mechanism failure, or spring failure shall be cause for rejection.
(3) The chair shall be restrained from movement and vertical load of 400 pounds with a 3-4 inch base shall be placed on the center of the chair arm for 15 minutes. Any structural failure shall be cause for rejection.
