COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STAND, SMOKING (MEATAL)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Interim Federal Specification
M-S-00675C and Purchase Description FEHS 77-908
This commercial item description covers two types of smoking stands: Type I for use in public areas, Type II for use in office areas. Stands shall be shipped completely assembled.

Receptacle opening shall be covered by a split, tilt, spin, or similar type of blade. Sand type receptacle not permitted.
Finish. Bronze baked enamel.
Identification label. The identification label shall have the contractor’s name or trademark, contract or order number, item stock number (if specified) and year of manufacture legibly marked in permanent dark ink. The label shall be affixed to the bottom of the stand and shall not be removable by hand without defacement.
Workmanship. Workmanship shall be of the quality to produce finished stands acceptable in appearance, function and serviceability and to prevent potential hazard to personnel or their clothing.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order.
Note. Purchasers should specify the type of smoking stand required.
